How does Audrey Page & Associates handle major restructures?
“We have developed a great reputation for handling major restructures across Australia – and massive global restructuring exercises too. There are a couple of big restructurings that come to mind…
A huge national one a few years ago with a big organisation – it was quite a dramatic one where they were closing down operations throughout Australia and all sorts of places where we actually didn’t have people on the ground, but we were able to either deal with it remotely or to have people temporarily there.
The most important thing, I think, is that we got involved in the early stages. We had a very good relationship with our client and they allowed us to be part of the planning – we were able to be there throughout the time, adding value along the way.
People like honesty I guess, and if that can happen as much as possible it’s very good for everybody. I think the major thing about huge restructurings is that they send ripples throughout the organisation.
If people are looked after during that time and respected, and some dignity is allowed, the message that goes back to the company is huge. I don’t know whether companies realise just how important that is.”
